Ravendawn Kicks Off Open Beta Next Week
MMORPG Ravendawn will launch on January 16th. Tavernlight Games announced the release date with its new cinematic trailer. Next week, you’ll be able to experience the game’s open beta.
The game is a top-down fantasy MMO that puts players in control. Its emphasis is not only on dynamic world building but also on building communities and customizing characters. In addition, the sandbox elements offer some balance, including a trade pack system that lets you package and sell products throughout the world.
As a player, you become an integral part of the economy at every level. Whether you grow crops, craft items, search for treasure, or even become a mercenary, you will play a role in this dynamic economy. This is one area in which the community will have tons of influence, but it’s not the only one.
Ravendawn will be free-to-play with an optional premium subscription. Playing in the beta will feel similar to what it will feel when the game launches. The team touts “player-friendly” monetization, with quality-of-life perks up for grabs with premium membership.
Noably, the premium subscription has been changed to remove the requirement that you must have premium to use waypoints in the game. They have also scrapped the experience and loot bonus for premium players in a party to make it more fair. Premium members will not have to pay in-game fees to use those waypoints.
In addition, they’re looking to support the game for a long time, since it’s player-driven and features world building. Plus, it features a mix of nostalgia and classic MMORPG mechanics with modern systems.
To this, CEO Nicolas ‘Knighter’ Schrik says, in a release, “This commitment is reflected in our ongoing support, regular updates, and future expansions, ensuring a continually evolving and thrilling experience for our community”.
Open beta kicks off on December 14, 2023. You can visit the studio’s official website to participate: head to Ravendawn.
