New Overwatch Animated Short Released! Watch the New Video Here!
One of the best things to come out of the Overwatch franchise is the amazing animated shorts that expand the lore and mythology for the Overwatch universe. Blizzard Entertainment has now released a new animated short film, Dragons, which is available online. You can check out the new animated short in the player below.
Dragons tells the story of two of Overwatch’s Japanese characters, the scions of the Shimada clan: Hanzo and Genji. In the new animated short, Hanzo returns to his siblings’ family home in Hanamura to seek redemption, but he’s confronted by ghosts from his past. It appears there was a dispute in the Shimada clan, and as a result, the clan member Hanzo was forced to “kill” his brother, Genji. But then it appears Genji was revived as a type of cyborg ninja by the Overwatch crew. Hanzo’s affiliation does not seem clear as of yet, and he may be one of those neutral parties.
Based on the quality of these shorts, Blizzard should invest more time in an Overwatch animated movie or series similar to these shorts instead of the upcoming live-action Warcraft film. Overwatch finally hits the shelves on May 24. The game will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
