Since its launch, Pokemon GO has had one major question, when will the non-Kanto region Pokemon be added? A while back, an update revealed there were placeholders in the code itself for the 100 Johto Pokemon. However, it wasn’t clear when or if they’d be coming to the game soon.
Then, Starbucks revealed that new Johto Pokemon were coming as part of a special event, which began a slew of rumors about whether this was true or not. Now, developer Niantic has come forward and confirmed that there will be new Pokemon coming soon. Even noting the date at which more details will be revealed, you can see the statement below:
“The Pokémon Company International and Niantic, Inc. will reveal details on December 12 about the first addition of more Pokémon to Pokémon GO, one of the most popular mobile games of the year. Stay tuned, Trainers!”
It’s unclear whether it’ll be a wide release of the Johto Pokemon, or a slow release over many weeks. Regardless of the way it’s done, this will no doubt bring interest back to Pokemon GO.
