Why the Major Delay for Scalebound? Find Out Xbox’s Explanation Here!

by on January 29, 2016

Previously, Platinum Games announced an upcoming action RPG project entitled Scalebound. Unfortunately, the game was recently delayed to 2017. Microsoft was hoping the game would be a big Xbox One exclusive for 2016, but that will no longer be the case. Speaking to IGN (via Gamespot), Microsoft’s marketing manager Aaron Greenberg explained the reasons for the projects delay.

Greenberg expressed the belief that Scalebound would have a tough time standing out from the pack for the planned big releases on Xbox One for 2016, which include the likes of Crackdown, Quantum Break, Gears of War 4 and Killer Instinct Season 3. Greenberg stated: “As we’re looking at the lineup for this year, and where [developer Platinum Games] are [with Scalebound]–what their aspirations are; that game is super-aspirational…we want to be able to give them enough time and resources to do that.” He added, “So strategically, give it time to breathe; let’s make sure we can give it enough space. First and foremost, always make sure the game is great.”

Scalebound is a game that will involve a hero named Drew and his dragon companion called Thuban. It appears the game will feature upgrades for your Dragon companion along with melee attacks. The project is directed by Hideki Kamiya. Players will face other fearsome creatures.

Scalebound is now due out in 2017. It will be available exclusively for the Xbox One console
