E3 2016: Check Out the New Trailer for DontNod’s Vampyr!

by on June 13, 2016

DontNod and Focus Home Interactive revealed the E3 trailer today for the upcoming action-RPG Vampyr. The new video introduces gamers the to the nightmare of the game’s hero, Doctor Jonathan Reid, as he now has to live with the horror of living every day as a vampiric monster. You can check out the new video in the player below.

The setting for the game looks awesome, and it’s a fun setting. It’s set in London in 1918. Reid is a veteran of World War I, and he’s been newly turned into a vampire. The game features a level-up system, where more experience points are gained by feeding on innocent people than during combat. Reid’s ultimate goal is to find a cure for his disease, and he has to decide how many lives will be sacrificed.

In the game, if the player kills too many people, it could cause problems in London’s infrastructure and things will fall into disarray. Every life taken will have a butterfly effect on the surrounding NPCs. For example, if a merchant’s wife is killed, he could close shop and leave the city.

The trailer appears to offer the first real look at gameplay footage for the game. It’s nice to finally see the style Vampyr is going for here. It looks like the game will be dark, moody and atmospheric. The combat looks interesting with how it mixes in melee and long-range weapons. Hopefully, it controls in a strong way.

Vampyr is due out later in 2017. The game is being developed for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.

A shame that it's just some combat, and not even that great. I want to see what other things you're going to do in this game.

Let's wait for the game. I think the new trailer was really great and I am really impressed by it.

Getting very tired of the gothic medieval setting to be completely honest but I'm usually able to get over it if the gameplay mechanics are good. Will have to wait and see and I do wish they would have shown more but for now I'm not too hyped by that trailer.
