E3 2016: Check Out the First Trailer for Novaquark’s Dual Universe!

by on June 14, 2016

During E3 2016 this week at the PC Gaming Show, Paris-based game studio Novquark debuted the first look trailer at the upcoming sandbox, sci-fi MMORPG Dual Universe. You can check out the first look teaser trailer in the player below. The new video demonstrates some of the details behind the technology in the game, and the approach of a single sharded “boundless” sandbox sci-fi MMORPG. The game is currently being developed for a Windows PC. release.

In Dual Universe, gamers will be able to freely edit the world of the game and build any construction they like with no size restrictions. This includes space ships to cities to giant space stations. The video features topline overview of the building gameplay mechanics, and certain aspects of the technology created for Dual Universe’s development. All the footage was captured in-game as well from its pre-alpha build.

According to Novaquark, Dual Universe uses the 64bit Planetary Engine for smooth transitions from planet surfaces through amtosphere into space with no limits to how far the player can travel or see. There’s also the Unlimited LOD (Level of Detail) technology to smooth voxel edition. This allows the planet-sized construction to be built in the game, as well as procedurally generated planets, revealed as players explore further. That concept does sound a little similar to Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky. So it will be interesting to see how this game fares by comparison. Even the trailer below gives off some definite No Man’s Sky vibes.

Speaking on the announcement, Novaquark CEO and founder Jean-Christophe Baillie stated on the video release: “We are extremely proud and thankful to be part of the projects being presented during the PC Gaming Show this year. We are confident that our first look trailer will please the tens of thousands of fans that have been following us so far though our social channels, eager to hear and see more about Dual Universe.”

The release date for the game will be revealed later on.
