Bitcraft Goes to Closed Alpha Phase

by on March 8, 2024

An announcement by Clockwork Labs this week revealed that BitCraft will launch its closed alpha on April 4th. This will coincide with the launch of its first official gameplay trailer for the survival crafting MMORPG.

The new BitCraft trailer shows a host of familiar elements of survival games, including hunting, farming, and crafting. In addition to introducing the main mechanics, the trailer shows how gameplay works.

This teaser provides a glimpse of the world, buildings, and some of the inhabitants and environments. The video is neatly set to a new soundtrack that gives the viewer a glimpse of where the game will go next.

BitCraft Trailer Ahead of Alpha Test

The game has been in pre-alpha for a while, as developers worked to build it out and shape the gameplay experience. Through pre-alpha and earlier closed tests, the game gained a sense of lore and ways to emphasize interdependence.

This is very intentional, as the team describes the game this way: “BitCraft is the first large-scale Survival Crafting MMORPG. Work with thousands of other players to rebuild civilization in a single, massive, unsharded world”

The closed beta test should help them continue to develop the world as more people get access to it. The trailer even shows a village growing. It grows bigger, the buildings get taller, and it continues to grow.

There is no doubt that the people, including those during the character creation, have glowing eyes and sometimes glowing lines on their faces. Under the caption “Meet unique travelers”, we see a figure wearing what appears to be a horned helmet with glowing spots on it.

Developed by Clockwork Labs in San Francisco, California, BitCraft is an MMO sandbox game with a strong emphasis on city building and exploration, as well as farming and crafting.

BitCraft, now subtitled Age of Automata, is still taking signups for alpha. Find out more here.
