Will The Division Have Micro-Transactions? Find Out Ubisoft’s Answer Here!

by on February 26, 2016

IGN reports that The Division’s community manager, Natchai Stappers, is claiming that there will be no micro-transactions for The Division. Things like micro-transactions tend to be a touchy subject for gamers. It’s controversial especially when players shell out a lot of money for a brand-new game, but publishers still hide in fees for in-game items through micro-transactions. You can check out Stappers tweet below.

Players during the beta version of The Division discovered the existence of an in-game currency called Phoenix Credits, but the current word is that this in-game currency can only be earned through gameplay only. In other words, it can’t be purchased with real money. Stappers went on to say that more details on the Phoenix Credits system will be revealed later on.

This might be a little bit of a surprise for players because Ubisoft did include micro-transactions for two its recent big releases in Rainbow Six Siege and Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. It’s not an uncommon practice for the publisher. The game will have paid DLC and expansions that will be released later.

The lack of micro-transactions will probably be welcome news for players. However, it’s also possible that Ubisoft might go back on this idea after the game’s release. The Division finally hits the shelves on March 8. The game will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
