Who Got Arrested for Threatening Blizzard? Find Out More Here!

by on July 21, 2016

According to a report by Kotaku, a man in Sacramento, California was arrested for threatening Overwatch and World of Warcraft developers Blizzard Entertainment. The man in question is Stephen Cebula, age 28, who was allegedly charged for sending multiple death threats to the video game company.

Cebula reportedly sent messages “over the internet” earlier this month from July 2-3 saying he “may or may not pay [Blizzard] a visit with an AK47 amongst some other ‘fun’ tools.” The messages added he “might be inclined to ‘cause a disturbance’ at [Blizzard’s] headquarters in California with an AK47 and a few other ‘opportunistic tools.’”

Cebula was later arrested on July 12 after an FBI investigation. He could face a maximum penalty of up to five years in jail and a $250,000 fine. A press release on the situation was also released by the US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California. Cebula was indicted and charged with threats against Blizzard employees.

Blizzard Entertainment is based in Irvine California. The report did not mention if there was any motive or reasoning behind Cebula’s threats. The whole situation seems very strange. Then again, it’s hard to make sense of the actions of a crazy person.
