Watch a Player Beat Dark Souls 3 Without Leveling Up or Rolling!
The Dark Souls franchise is a game series that’s acclaimed and beloved for its soul-crushing difficulty. The game’s difficulty is one of the game’s defining features, and beating the game is a badge of honor for players. However, gamers are also trying to constantly escalate making the challenge of Dark Souls, or in this case Dark Souls 3, even more difficult. PC Gamer reports that Twitch user TolomeoR completed the entire game without blocking, parrying, rolling or level up. He didn’t even wear armor for his game session.
His impressive run lasted about 50-60 hours. There were some abortive attempts, so he didn’t complete the game with so many handicaps without dying. TolomeoR used the standard broadsword up to the Champion Gundyr, where he swapped to Astora’s Straight Sword. The full playlist of TolomeoR’s boss fights with the handicap can be found at this link. Putting such a large handicap on your gameplay for Dark Souls 3 is a pretty insane feat, regardless of the time it took. It will be interesting to see what players will try and do to one-up their difficulty levels on the game next. Dark Souls 3 is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
It definitely takes a lot of time, dedication, effort, and a whole lot of resets and reloads, to accomplish this feat. Sure, it looks impressive, but I have to wonder how many takes did this accomplishment took, and how long did it take for the player to actually master all of this and upload it online. It's really a hard thing to do, but also, Dark Souls players have this tendency of making mountains out of mole hills, and surely there was an easier way to beat the game.
