The Witcher 3 Celebrates April Fools’ Day! Learn All About the Roach DLC!
It looks like CD Projekt RED has decided to have fun today, since the date on the calendar marks April 1 as April Fools’ Day. To celebrate the occasion, CD Projekt RED has released a new parody video regarding Roach, Geralt of Rivia’s trusty mount from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Roach was not without his problems and glitches in the world of The Witcher 3, so the development team opted to have a little fun at their own expense with this parody video, which you can check out below.
The developers in the video explain that Roach’s glitches in the game were basically the result of making Roach too good and realistic. And then Roach became a media sensation. The video jokes that a new Roach DLC will be released for $4.99 and will unlock “limited premium content,” including a talking Roach. Pre-order customers will receive an exclusive Roach sticket for their console. Obviously, the DLC isn’t real, but it’s an amusing video nonetheless. Still, I wouldn’t mind the goofy sticker at least.
CD Projekt RED even released a fake statement from April Loofs, Senior Executive Officer of Incremental Revenue Acquisition & Fun (a fake person and title), stating: “We’re always listening to gamers, and gamers are telling us they are throwing money at the screen and nothing happens. That’s why we’re extremely thrilled to be able to make something happen.”
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. The next expansion, Blood and Wine, is due out later this year.
