Pax Die Ends First Alpha Tests
Using the game’s Discord channel, Mainframe Industries shared the key takeaways from Pax Dei’s recent alpha test. Through watching and commenting, as well as providing feedback in different ways, the team thanked all who played the game and provided feedback.
Several major goals were achieved with the Alpha test on Pax Die:
- testing and stressing the tech.
- detecting and fixing any issues.
- testing several systems, including building, harvesting, and crafting.
The game is a sandbox module where everything is made by players, the economy is fully player-driven, and an easy-to-use crafting system.
According to Mainframe, the Alpha test was essential and proved helpful in making the next step. They found the test useful for identifying several issues, including some that they had not seen before, like buildings going invisible. On the tech end, they found the exam to help identify many technical issues.
With the demand, they tested their world layering system for capacity spikes. Through this method, new layers are created in the world to support a specific spike in capacity. As players create everything, everywhere, sometimes some are building on layer one while others are on layer two.
It was clear that building was the main focus of the test, and the response was encouraging. The freedom to move plots freely was beneficial for an alpha, but in the future, they’re looking to rein in some of that freedom for balance’s sake.
. “We did not expect all these castles and villages, along with so much creativity with some of the pieces!” The post on the discord explained.
“Building restrictions serve multifaceted objectives: they safeguard constructions from random destruction through plot permissions and strive to maintain a harmonious and balanced world area,” they further noted.
Strumming on the great Alpha success, the Mainframe team is projecting a second test in the first quarter of 2024.
