Palworld Exceeds 4 Million Units Sold!
Pocket Pair celebrates the launch of Palworld with four million copies sold in only a few days. Palworld is the latest and greatest creature collection survival game, as evidenced by the massive amount of concurrent players on Steam. Over 500,000 people played Palworld within minutes of its release on Xbox and PC on January 19, 2024.
The game took everyone by surprise, discarding skeptics who called it a scam due to the developer’s track record. It has since reached over 1.2 million concurrent players on Steam, making it Steam’s second most popular game of all time.
This success doesn’t come without bugs, however, and Xbox users have reported issues with the in-game multiplayer feature. Even worse, almost all multiplayer servers have gone down at some point. But is this a surprise considering how stressed these servers are?
Even still, Pocket Pair has addressed the issue, and apologizes to fans for the mayhem and downtime since release stating,
“Server Outage Notice:
“As the number of concurrent players across all platforms exceeded 1.3 million, the Epic Online Service is currently experiencing outages due to an unusually high load worldwide. Singleplayer is unaffected by this server outage.
“This is causing connectivity issues with co-op and servers. We are sorry for this inconvenience and we are working to recover stable operation as soon as possible. As soon as we have further information, we will send it out on X and the official Discord”
In Palworld, players can battle and capture Pals, bringing them to life to build their bases, traverse the world, and fight enemies. The game is an action-adventure survival game developed by the Japanese company Pocket Pair.
Players in Palworld network to capture monsters, build bases, and survive the elements in a cartoonish fantasy world. Unlike its similarity to Pokémon, which has been designed for children, Palworld players have the option of shooting attacking Pals with guns.
