Nightingale Reveals Early Access Details
Nightingale’s development team has revealed in a blog post what multiplayer features will be available when Early Access launches in two months. In a long and in-depth post on its community board, Inflexion Games outlined the events that will immerse players in its fantasy world.
Nightingale is a survival game that takes place in the Fae Realms, integrating late-1800s elements. The developers have labeled it as a “gaslamp fantasy.”. Players become “Realmwalkers,” who are whisked away from their worlds by portals.
In addition, players find themselves in a new world and must be prepared to survive. They are provided guns, gadgets, axes, and hammers as weapons and farming tools to become better at gathering supplies. They must defeat mysterious creatures, and discover what happened to their fellow Realmwalkers.
“While each realm will feature new dangers, discoveries, and surprises, you have the power to influence its design, including prevalence of hostiles, abundance of resources, and even the environment itself,” the official Steam page explains.
From what the multiplayer blog describes, the creation of “Realms” will be determined by Realm Cards. Each card allows players to create their procedurally-generated maps with constraints established by the cards.
Players can invite others to join a co-op party within a Realm or set their Realm to “public” so that other players can join. The game has no PvP built-in, which will hopefully ease concerns about grief.
As more players join parties, they will be able to experience further cooperative features. Realm Walkers will be able to travel from one “Respite Realm” to another via an “Estate Cairn”. This allows them to do so when the other members of their party are not available.
If a party finishes a major boss together, all involved get the same reward. So, if that sole player moves around, there’s no need to worry about loot-hogging both. Loot crates are instanced, with all loot shareable.
