Can The Division Have a Launch as Big as Destiny? Find Out What Ubisoft Thinks Here!

by on February 19, 2016

Ubisoft is about to launch one of its biggest video game releases of all time with Tom Clancy’s The Division. But just how big can the launch of this online multiplayer shooter become? Can it measure up to one of the biggest new game releases ever like Destiny? Ubisoft thinks the game can pull off just that. Ubisoft managing director John Parkes spoke at Ubisoft’s Investor Day (via Gamespot), and said the game could become of the biggest new game IP launches of all time, on par with Bungie’s Destiny in 2014, Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs also in 2014, and Assassin’s Creed in 2007.

Parkes stated, “Because of its many attributes–RPG, shooter, massive online multiplayer, realistic setting in a beautifully recreated New York, great open world playable in solo or in co-op–The Division can become one of the biggest launches ever for a new IP.”

Parkes pointed out that trailers for The Division have received more than 225 million views, which is 30 percent higher than viewership for Watch Dogs trailers about one month before the game’s launch.

The Division is finally set to arrive next month. After numerous delays, the game finally hits the shelves on March 8 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC. DLC for the game will launch on Xbox One 30 days before it hits other platforms. Ubisoft is currently in the process of running a closed beta for The Division on all platforms this weekend.
