Battleborn Is Adding Microtransactions! Find Out What’s Coming to the Game!

by on June 15, 2016

In a blog post on the official website, 2K Games and Gearbox Software confirmed that Battleborn’s marketplace is changing and expanding. Specifically, they are adding microtransactions to the game in the form of Platinum Packs to purchase new cosmetic content for the game’s heroes.

The Marketplace update for Battleborn includes the premium currency, Platinum, which allows players to buy brand new skins and taunts for their heroes. The first set of new add-ons features skins for all of the game’s 26 heroes and also new taunts for Ghalt, Oscar Mike, Benedict, Shayne & Aurox, El Dragon, Whiskey Foxtrot, Kleese, and Alani. More comestic updates are also planned for the future. These premium taunts and skins will not affect gameplay and are completely optional. In addition, the first five Battleborn DLC packs will add more skins and taunts that can be unlocked in Story Operations, and these will not be sold in the Marketplace.

The Platinum Packs can be purchased for the game through the PlayStation Network, the Xbox Store and the Steam Wallet in-game. Then the Platinum in-game can be used to get the new skins and taunts for the heroes. All the DLC packs will be sold through the Marketplace.

The new skins and taunts will launch on June 16. Here are the prices for the Platinum Packs:

  • $1.99 for 230 Platinum
  • $4.99 for 700 Platinum
  • $9.99 for 1625 Platinum
  • $19.99 for 3500 Platinum
  • $49.99 for 9300 Platinum

A Skin will cost 420 Platinum, and a taunt costs 230 Platinum. Battleborn is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
