Pax Dei Celebrates Alpha Success, Thanks Players
The Pax Dei team took the time to write an extensive blog about the Wilderness Alpha gameplay test after a relatively successful playtest.
According to the team, over 100,000 people participated in this particular test. The system “performed very well, efficiently handling tens of thousands of building pieces and props.” At least fantastic news for those perpetually worried about launch failures.
In addition, the Pax Dei studio expressed its gratitude and appreciation to players for their support and contribution.
“But the absolute pinnacle was in the stories you shared: reading about players gathering, exchanging advice and tips about resource spots, trading goods, and forming alliances to try to overcome the challenges of the wild filled us with joy,” this particular announcement read. “Observing all these moments, big and small, of emerging gameplay was like witnessing the actual birth of our game.”

After that, players were directed to a channel on which they shared “Wilderness Alpha Learnings.” The post included feedback on combat, PvP, building systems, and more.
It appears most of Combat’s feedback was related to execution. However, the team says that they improved progression, stats, and movement since the previous alpha.
Since PvP was mainly a test of the loot system, it was set up as a complete loot system during the test. It was only hosted in one central location which was time consuming to reach. In the future, it will be expanded from one area, and won’t lock players out of content besides PvP.
In addition, the crafting part of the game seemed overwhelming as well. Even so, people did well that they built entire villages and more. This shows that in a sandbox, teamwork is the key to success.
In short, as they note, “the Alpha was a great success” despite early downtime caused by rabbits. The Pax Dei team also documented this prior in Discord. And it seems the Pax Dei Early Access stage “is coming, for sure, and on time!”
