Vindictus Gets New Single Player Adventure Game
The 14-year-old MMO, Vindictus, is getting a single-player spin-off. Developer Nexon launched the game back in 2012, featuring fast real-time combat. For well over a decade, Vindictus has quietly thrived with semi-frequent events, updates, and expansions.
In addition to the MMO’s snappier spirit, Nexon announced Vindictus: Defying Fate, a solo adventure that emphasizes PvE content in the same universe. While it shares characters, NPCs, region names, and monsters with Vindictus, the game is a solo adventure.
As a trailer for Defying Fate’s upcoming release, it serves largely as a mood piece rather than an introduction to the world. However, seeing our main character engage in combat with furry, chunky creatures is all you really need to know about the game.
In addition to the heavy combat and ferocity of the enemies, the game’s storefront description proclaims that the world has been inspired by Celtic mythology, leading to the hulking, weapon-wielding wolves among others.
The studio defines the game in vivid terms that may interest you.
“Welcome to the world of ‘Vindictus: Defying Fate,’ an adrenaline-fueled action game currently in the pre-alpha stage, where every clash is a symphony and every step is a dance with destiny.
Immerse yourself in a dark and intense odyssey, where you’ll face towering adversaries and navigate a 3D world teeming with mystery and danger.
Embrace the challenge, embark on the journey, and be a part of the saga that defies fate.
“Each character is unique not only in appearance but weapons and combat style,” the page continues, “allowing you to choose the combat experience that suits your playstyle and personality.”
Although no release date has been announced for Vindictus: Defying Fate, you can check out the older online sibling on Steam whilst you wait.
