Twitch Has Beaten Dark Souls

by on September 29, 2015

Twitch has been doing a string of runs using chat based messaging to complete complex games. Most famously, it did a run on Pokémon. Now, it’s completed Dark Souls.

This run took 43 days and 8 hours, and was helmed by a group of dedicated fans, who did this task using only chat based commands. It was not without price, as the avatar took 904 deaths.

Unlike the Pokémon Twitch run, the event for Dark Souls allowed players to decide what command to use while the game intentionally froze. The command with the most votes was carried out. This was different from Pokémon, as at that event anyone could have shouted a command, and Twitch would have tried to respond to them all.

It appears that Dark Souls 2 is the next title that Twitch will do a crowdplay on. You can see the victory of Dark Souls via the video below.
