Guild Wars 2: Secrets of The Obscure Update
In Guild Wars 2: Secrets of The Obscure, ArenaNet adds craftable legendary variants to its relic system. These Legendary Relics will be included in the expansion’s third major update.
“Relics are a new category of equipment that we added with the expansion’s launch in August of 2023,” ArenaNet explains. “Upon acquisition, legendary relics can be equipped by all characters on an account simultaneously, allowing players to freely swap between relic effects. Any player who has already crafted at least one legendary rune will be granted a legendary relic for free.”
In addition, ArenaNet intends to place restrictions on players’ use of legendary relics to encourage them to tackle the new expansion content. ArenaNet has not yet set a specific timeframe for when the update will launch, but the roadmap suggests it will arrive before the end of winter.
. “From a rewards, economy, and experience-design standpoint, we think it makes sense to ask players to actually engage with new content in order to make use of its new combat offerings,” they said. “So, for relics only—and starting with the fifth expansion—new relic effects will need to be unlocked within each expansion in order to be accessible via legendary relics.”
According to ArenaNet’s roadmap, the update will be released before winter if things go as planned. Legendary relics will also be restricted to encourage players to tackle the new content.
