CipSoft Announces Post-apocalyptic MMORPG Persist Online
CipSoft, the developer behind the pioneering MMORPG Tibia in 1997, has just announced the upcoming post-apocalyptic zombie game Persist Online.
A new CIPSoft game is on the way, and it’s gonna be all about street survival with zombies. But the developers still see Persist Online as an old-school classic MMORPG, with a server shaped by players. The original game was a fantasy lore compared to the upcoming street survival against the undead.
The announcement was followed by a trailer to highlight their premise and show off some of the gameplay in some pre-alpha footage. Cipsoft plans to release the game early in Early Access, and are emphasizing the role of players.

Citing their decades running Tibia, which still has an active community 27 years later, Lead Project Manager Benjamin Zuckerer says “The true charm of an MMORPG lies in the diverse interaction possibilities among players and the unpredictable stories that emerge from them”.
In light of these considerations, we can expect several playtests before Persist Online enters Early Access. The game will host hundreds of players on a persistent server in a large open world. Players will not be forced to share the world and learn to survive in it.
It’s the type of game that makes finding allies vital and can wind up as a source of powerful loot when you fall. Open PvP appears to be on the table, as well as friendly fire, so there’s a lot to keep in mind.
This post-apocalyptic world will feature a variety of weapons, including shotguns and frying pans. Day and night cycles will affect gameplay, and every building is likely to be accessible and detailed.
Persist Online’s Early Access doesn’t have a window yet, but the team will announce more later. You can stay with us as we cover each step of this new game.
