Ubisoft Up For More Collaborations With Nintendo

by on June 30, 2018

Will companies like Ubisoft and Square Enix continue to team-up with Nintendo? If so, why?

The Nintendo Switch has brought a lot of major 3rd party companies to the table, including some that haven’t been at their table before. But it’s a familiar face that has gotten the attention of gamers. Ubisoft has been very vocal in their support of Nintendo. And more than that, they’re partnering up with them in many ways. Last year, they launched Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, and just recently released a DLC for that game featuring Donkey Kong. And later this year, their game Starlink will feature a crossover with Star Fox.

So, will Ubisoft continue to do collaborations like this? In an interview, CEO Yves Guillemot seemed to indicate that would be the case:

“It is very strong because we have done many things together in the past. The Nintendo brands and their capacity to create fantastic games is really something that our creators in Ubisoft love, and when they can collaborate with Nintendo they are extremely happy to do so. So yes it will continue, and I hope we will be able to surprise you with new things in the future.”

What exactly those collaborations will be is unknown, but Yves is right about one thing, they have been known to surprise us.
