Gwent’s Closed Beta Delayed to October! Get All The Details on The Witcher Card Game Here!

by on August 10, 2016

The Closed Beta and CD Projekt RED revealed new details today on the upcoming card game based on The Witcher franchise, Gwent: The Witcher Card Game. Unfortunately, the reveal today is that the team has opted to push back the Closed Beta for Gwent back to October instead of September.

At E3 2016, the Gwent team had announced that the Closed Beta would launch in September. However, it’s been pushed because the team says, “we feel we need some extra time with the game before we hand it off to you for testing. We know we can make a first impression only once, and want to be sure everything is ready before we blast off. Delivering a good game is more important to us than keeping a deadline. Still, that doesn’t mean we don’t realize that delays can be disappointing, and we apologize for making you wait.”

The Closed Beta will now begin on October 25. The Witcher Card Game experience will have single and multiplayer game modes. In addition, it’s being developed for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that a mobile version for Gwent is on the table at the moment. It’s set to be free-to-play.

Players can still register for the closed beta at this link.

Well I am usually not one who gets excited about delays, but for some reason this one seems legitimate. Maybe it is just because it is the first time we are hearing it, and not the fifth like Final Fantasy, but I hope that it leads to an overall better release. I don't know, I just get a good feeling with this one. Thanks for sharing.
