This I think is my favorite genre in movies although all the best horror movies for me were made in the 70s and 80s. If there have been remakes assume it's the original. Here are my favorites: Alucarda Alien Let the Right One In Dawn of the Dead Day of the Dead Return of the Living Dead Halloween The Thing Pet Sematary They Live Event Horizon Halloween III: Season of the Witch
The Strangers. There's not a lot of horror films I get scared of because I watched too many of them and so I think I've become kind of desensitized to monsters and whatnot. They can still be fun though. Anyway, I really liked The Strangers it's definitely one of my top movies. It's about a young couple staying in an isolated place together and are being tormented by three masked assailants. It sounds a bit generic when described like that but it's actually quite tense. The Cabin in the Woods isn't necessarily "horror" but it's definitely a funny and well done homage to the genre.
Off the top of my head, John Carpenter's The Thing. This movie couldn't be any better. Probally has the best horror film soundtrack out there as well.
grave encounters just because of the weird faces, also a serbian film just for the what the hell am I watching factor. I was disturbed
Halloween is my favorite. But "Conjuring" which is a true horror movie I watched in the recent times.
Jeepers Creepers Insidious Critters Anaconda Python Eight legged freaks American werewolf in Paris Night of the Demons Fright Night Supergator Dinocroc
As afar as horror is concerned, I really do not like watching these type of films but my wife really loves them so I don't have a choice but to watch whenever she asks me to watch with her. I tried watching Hollywood horror films, some of them are creepy, but if you're looking for movies that would really scare the hell out of you then try watching Thai or Japanese horror movies. I really do not know why but I really find them scary. I've watched a few of these films like The Grudge, Shutter, Alone and Coming Soon.
I have a very long list (I mean... a very long one ), but one of my favorites is - and always will be - a true classic by master Wes Craven, "A Nightmare On Elm Street".
