Finally more info was revealed about the new Mirror's Edge title at the Electronic Arts conference during E3 2015. Key details here are that it runs on the newest Frostbite engine without levels or loading screens for a much more free roaming experience than the first game. In terms of story, apparently it is going to be a reboot/prequel thingy - an origins story for female lead Faith. We're looking at a 23rd February 2016 release date for all you sexy American overlords and 26th February for us filthy European peasants. ;)

  2. For a person who doesn't kill she seems very keen on knocking people off the skyscrapers.

It also looks weird that the technology in the prequel is somehow more advanced than in the sequel.

Indeed, but this applies to many titles. The "non-lethal" takedowns presented in most games that involve such options would in real life actually kill the victim or leave them with severe brain damage and force their body into a coma. The Metro games are even worse from that point of view - not only is "good guy" Artyom turning people into cripples, he is also leaving them unconscious on the surface with no means of changing their filters or defending themselves from scavenging mutants! Back to Mirror's Edge Catalyst though, it looks as though they got rid of shooting entirely. :D

True, but I've heard that Catalyst is as much a prequel as it is a reboot of the series. Some of the key people from the original game are no longer involved and DICE is sort of rewriting the story for Faith. So the technological difference is somewhat justified.
