It's official. We all knew it was coming and now it's here... Wiedźmin 3: Dziki Gon (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt) has been announced.

    Polish link: http://pl.thewitcher.com/community/entry/367
    English link: http://www.thewitcher.com/community/entry/329
    Teaser trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ff-pMq7MMY

    UPDATE #1:
From now on, this comment will be updated with regular updates regarding the game. If you encounter any news that tell us something which isn't included in the list below, then please post them in this thread and I will add them here accordingly. A list of sources has been added at the bottom of this post.
    UPDATE #2:
I will also update this post with any and all screenshots, renders and concept art for Wiedźmin 3 that I can find on the internet. These will be included below the list of sources.
    UPDATE #3:
Any gameplay videos and perhaps other trailers will also find their way here.
    UPDATE #4:
Due to the ridiculously stupid limit of 20 images per post on this forum, I am forced to upload each new batch of images as a new comment. If you want to look for those, you'll have to browse through the thread now to find.

    Features teased/confirmed/shown so far:
    • Open world gameplay mixed with mature, nonlinear & masterful storytelling
    • Choices with real consequences (like in the two previous Witcher games)
    • Game world will be 30 times the size of all explorable areas in the previous game
    • Horse riding and boat sailing as forms of transport
    • A completely new level of nonlinearity and immersion
    • The last entry in Geralt's video game trilogy
    • CD Projekt RED's biggest game production yet
    • Game will be set in the war-ravaged lands of the Northern Kingdoms
    • A new and improved combat system that will make you feel like a real witcher
    • No more quick-time-events and the return of many classic RPG features
    • The game is scheduled for release in February of 2015 on PC and PS4
    • The Witcher 3 will run on the new REDengine 3
    • Many more new side quests than there were in The Witcher 2
    • More responsive combat with a new targeting system
    • Better camera that will allow you to see more enemies
    • In-game built-in tutorial will come on the disc (it had to be patched into the previous game)
    • The new tutorial sequence is part of the story and it’s subtly implemented
    • No scaling enemies (open world more like Gothic than Elder Scrolls)
    • Story will be more personal, but political themes will remain
    • Three completely different epilogues based on what you did before
    • The story will be longer than it was in The Witcher 2
    • Series will end with a surprising and unexpected plot twist
    • The subplot of Geralt’s amnesia will be properly explained
    • Geralt is more agile and can now jump and climb
    • New combat mechanic that lets you target specific parts of monsters
    • Geralt has a sense ability he can use to track colour-coded traces of beasts
    • Killing monsters and animals outside of quests won't reward you with XP
    • How much you can sell your looted or crafted items for depends on the dynamic local economy of each settlement
    • Geralt can tame horses using an Axii magical sign, or he can buy them
    • 50 hour main quest with an additional 50 hours of side quests makes a total of 100 hours of gameplay
    • In-game societies act realistically
    • The flora and fauna create a living ecosystem which reacts to the player's decisions
    • Lore-friendly and smart creature design based on the books
    • More in-depth monster hunting system linked to both narrative & gameplay
    • The emphasis on preparation before combat will be more extensively designed
    • Monster trophies will be the main source of Geralt's income this time around
    • The mutagen system will be completely redone
    • No boss battle mechanics unlike The Witcher 2
    • The game will have a much larger library of animations than previous entries
    • Combat animations will be performed by master swordsman Maciej Kwiatkowski like in the last two games
    • The soundtrack will be inspired by traditional Slavic music
    • There are to be no invisible borders to the game world
    • There are a possible 36 states the world can end up in because of your actions
    • Imported saved games from previous Witcher titles will alter relationships with characters but not the main story
    • Geralt can reach level 60 in The Witcher 3
    • Character development will be more complex allowing for hundreds of customisation possibilities
    • Enemies may surrender to Geralt if he is much too powerful for them
    • You won't be able to kill civilians because they will alert guards
    • New mini-games (such as playing cards or axe-throwing)
    • The PC and console versions will have a different UI
    • Dynamic weather system that may sometimes force you to take shelter
    • Storms can damage or sink player-controlled boats
    • The game will be inspired by both Slavic and Nordic imagery
    • Accessible environments will consist mainly of seven islands
    • Some islands are inspired more heavily by old Slavic culture, whilst others by old Nordic culture
    • Each of the seven islands (on its own) is far bigger than the entire world of The Witcher 2
    • Some of the tougher monsters will have special abilities that impact fights
The Witcher - Enhanced Edition and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings - Enhanced Edition are available for 50% off their original prices on cdp.pl, gog.com and steam to mark the occasion. We will be able to read more about the last instalment of the series in the upcoming issue of the Game Informer magazine.

If they pull it off, then this game has the potential to not only be the best RPG ever made (an open world that doesn't sacrifice story and choice), but maybe even the best video game ever made.

Usually open-world games don't have a good story, but I trust these guys. And Stalker, sex is part of the character, the first book, The Last Wish, start with a short conversation, then, on the first chapter, Geralt is making sex :D

"This time?"... it was optional in the first game, and it was optional in the second game. It was never forced on the player. The only thing that isn't optional is a bit of nudity... and what's wrong with that? It's just the human body, not a bloody abomination of some kind. Besides, in The Witcher 2, the only scenes of nudity in the game that weren't optional showed no intercourse and it was all between lovers (Geralt and Triss). If you want to cheat on Triss and get an almost full-nudity, few second long sex scene with a prostitute, then you chose to do so as those are completely optional.
I can tell that you have obviously never played The Witcher or The Witcher 2. Only someone who has never played these games (that have tens of hours of content, a bit of nudity and a few optional minutes of sex) would even suggest that it's a porn game. :p

Guys, if you feel that you're not old or mature enough to play The Witcher games with a straight face - then don't. After all, they are rated 18 as guidance. If you feel that these ratings are appropriate for you, then go ahead and abide by them, but please don't ruin the reputation of this magnificent series because you cannot accept human nature. It's ridiculous enough that anyone here would complain about this, but it's sickeningly ironic that you choose to complain about nudity and romance when brutal violence is much more prominent in gaming.

Sorry I thought it was mandatory..
But yet I find it weird that you consider the sex good and human nature. It is in nature to have sex yes but it ads (imo) nothing and if anything is just used to add sales. In violence in video games is anyone actually hurt?
But yet in sex do we see nudity?

not what I meant. In real life murder is wrong because people feel pain and a person is killed. Of course in a video game this does not happen. But yet part of the fault of nudity and sex is how it affects us. The picture of a nude person is still seeing nudity. in the same way a nude picture is still porn.

I completely disagree that sex was just used to add sales. The Witcher is based on a series of books written by Andrzej Sapkowski, the first one was written in 1993, and Geralt make sex on that book. CDProjekt based the game on the book, and they never intended to create a childish game, so, in my opinion, the sex scenes were there because the author decided to make Geralt that way.

I wasn't saying that, I was just saying that often sex is used for sales. It was a generalization.

Yeah, now I have to agree with you, usually it is. That's why a lot of people say that the sex scenes in The Witcher were there only to add sales, and that's pretty lame

Yeah, the optional romance scenes with Triss in The Witcher 2 were probably some of the most realistic and mature representations of adult relationships in gaming. On the other hand, you could argue that the brothel included in the game is definitely using sex for sales... and indirectly, it is, but that's not the point. Like vitor said: sex is one of Wiedźmin's main themes. Having a brothel is part of getting across that message. Also, what the games do especially well is show a realistic world through a fantasy setting. For example, the series show many strong, independent, female characters that are treated badly by society - much like in today's real world.
