Im reading The roots of heaven at the moment. A new Metro Universe book from the Metro in Rome It's realy good
http://www.amazon.com/PripYat-Beast-Chernobyl-Mike-Kraus-ebook/dp/B00AA6CM82 I kind of want to give this a try.
I am at the moment reading Bram Stroker's 'Dracula', as well as Snorri Sturluson's 'Prose Edda'. And, no, not at the same time.
Just got some more books about the Australian SAS to add to my collection so I'll probably start reading a bit of one of them until Metro 2034 gets here.
:twitch: it's difficult to find a description of me book on za web without spoiling the story!! Here's the preview off from the back of my book: So muses Maxim, for at the age of twenty the prospect of exploring alien worlds presents an irresistible challenge. Yet the planet upon which he alights is grim and bleak, an empire shattered by a devastating atomic holocaust -the rivers run with radioactivity, the people are ruled by the all-powerful Creators, and mind-control keeps the majority loyal and obedient...and only a few rebel. But yeah, Pip's does look interesting. Pip, if I were you, I wouldn't give it any more thought; just buy the book already and enjoy it
I didn't actually get anywhere into the story -besides the prologue- because I couldn't keep myself to stay awake last night Anyway, here's the description from the back: Edmund Hall was born a genetic freak. His brain -and the powers it could wield -set him above the world of ordinary men. He was the successor of mankind in the evolutionary scale. But to the normal beings around him Hall was a freak, a monster, a new Adam in a world of frightened sub-men. I'll let you know if it's any good
I've been reading the Bachman Books. It's a collection of books put into one issue by pseudo author, Richard Bachman (A.K.A. Stephen King). I've already read through the first three -Rage, The Long Walk, Roadwork- and am currently on the last/favorite story in the book, "The Running Man." "The Running Man," just like the movie by the same title and with Arnold Schwarzenegger, is about a reality game show where the contestants must run and attempt to survive from getting killed by hunters out to kill them. The main difference about the book is that the contestants can go anywhere they please, even across international waters, to attempt to survive for 30 days (unlike the movie where they were in this very large arena area). They can do whatever they see fit to survive -hide in sewers, hold people hostage, kill cops, blow up building etc. It's also set, in some parts, an almost like dystopian America (but since the main contestant, Richards, is free to travel, the setting changes from low to high class areas). I think it's a great book, and even though it's not exactly like the movie -which I had watched first- it's very enjoyable and does not mess up with my liking to the movie.
^ Just started on the first one last night. Recently got myself a used Asus Eee PC 900 as a bit of a fun project to play with, replaced the screen for a touch screen panel, and just started reading a few e-books to test it out. I've had the Song of Ice and Fire e-books on my pc for ages, waiting for an e-reader to read them comfortably (as in, not sitting at my desk staring at my computer screen), and it's about time I can get started on it...
