If you fight other players online regularly in the newest games you'll usually come across the same spread of pokemon over and over. I'm talking about the Skarmorys, the Gengars, the Garchomps and the Ferrothorns, the pokemon that are definitively good at a competitive level and get used by everyone. I bet, though, that most every online player has at least one underdog pokemon whom they love to use, even if that pokemon isn't very good (or gets carted out often for tiered play.) Which pokemon is that for you? In the latest gen I was a huge fan of Furfrou. It looks cool, for starters, and is usually seen as an easy kill by opponents - but a Furfrou with Fur Coat active can last a surprisingly long time, particularly if you throw out Thunder Wave. Not so surprising anymore, since this gen has been out so long, but I loved using Furfrou early on when people didn't know how tough a defence-minded Furfrou could be.
