Only one map doesn't matter; it's a game of skill + teamwork. You start off from lvl1 every game because it isn't a typical dungeon crawler, winning lane means getting more XP/Gold than the enemy team therefore giving you a better chance of winning early. If it drags on, this gives the enemy team the chance to start closing that advantage gap. Currently in gold/soloque only.
I don't really consider LoL to be an MMORPG... I mean it's way more of a RTS game than an RPG. Just my opinion though.
