It is kind of sad, but there is probably a lot of this that goes into it, but I would like to think that hit is not as sinister as it sounds when you lay it out like that.

аnyоnе yоu sее оn thе strееt соuld bе running а Minесrаft sеrvеr, аnd thеy саn prеtty muсh dо whаtеvеr thеy wаnt in thаt situаtiоn. Shоuld yоur sоn еntеr intо а соntrасt fоr digitаl gооds with sоmеоnе оff thе strееt? Prоbаbly nоt. I'd likе tо think mоst pеоplе аrе just gооd аnd dесеnt, but I dоubt yоur sоn hаs signеd аny соntrасt, аnd if hе did, it prоbаbly wаsn't lеgаl (dеpеnding оn аgе).
Tо аnswеr yоur quеstiоn, I hаvе nо еvidеnсе оnе wаy оr thе оthеr thаt Minесrаft sеrvеrs dо this оn thе rеgulаr. I wоuld tеnd tо dоubt mоst аrе "еvil", аs thеy wоuld hаvе lоwеr pоpulаtiоns. Hоwеvеr, thеrе is nоthing stоpping аny оnе Minесrаft sеrvеr аdmin frоm bеhаving this wаy.

 

Boring History: Ever since Minecraft's first public release, it has had an EULA (End User Licence Agreement). In this, alongside many ther things, it states, that anybody that has purchased minecraft as a game (A regular purchase) or created a minecraft server, cannot make money off it, unless you broadcast gameplay (Basically Youtube). Mojang had not properly or strictly enforced this EULA though, this resulted in many servers making money off of Minecraft as well as trading of minecraft accounts.

Last year, Mojang made decison to shut down minecraft servers who were in violation of this Agreement. This information "Leaked" out before they were shut down and this resulted in a huge argument between the server owners and mojang.

Finally, the mojang reverted their decision and many server continued to be in violation of the EULA.

Short Answer: Most Minecraft servers' main revenue sources are in-game ranks and items purchases, but you can rarely find some servers that get their main revenue from asking people to pay to get unbanned. This has happened to me for a very stupid reason on a server called gotPVP and i lost all of my progress of 1.5 years...

 

Of course they do, even if it's unfair, they continue to do it.

 

I guess we never know. But how about kids just buy their own servers and play within those servers instead of depending on others?

 

I didnt know about Minecraft banning kids. Probably its just a bug or technical errors. You should report that to the company.

 

Minecraft servers make money? I never knew that. I have noticed that kids should be kept some distance from some games.

To be honest, I thought all Minecraft servers were legit, as in they are officially owned by Minecraft. Good to know that this is not the case.

 

I know they have to make money but this is not the way to do it.

 

Looks like a money grabbing scheme to me. You can't charge someone to un-ban them from a server, that is illegal.

 

Some admins are just cruel and corrupt. Why would Mojang ban an account because of something you 'allegedly' did in game!

 

The players that get banned are the ones that use VPN. If their system detect the usage of VPN, then be sure your account is definitely going to get banned.

 

I thought the VPN thing mostly affected China. Damn! That is a shame.

 

When you use a VPN in Minecraft it will most probably bring back a 'incorrect password' response! I don't know of anyone who got banned because of VPN usage.
