Hello guys, I'm having an annoying bug which transforms the game into a much more dark metro... I'm using Debian Jessie + Catalyst 13.35.5 from the fglrx catalyst package (Debian Repositories). I know that the Linux port officially supports, mainly, the Nvidia gpus though any help would be welcome. I would appreciate a lack of "get nvidia. problem solved" replies :3. This post is actually a copy of the topic I started in the Steam Community. Original Thread: http://steamcommunity.com/app/43160/discussions/0/540736587173107491/ BTW: I think that new members should be allowed to post links before getting to 15posts in the "Technical Discussion & Support" category... Example Screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/z2oNefW.jpg Problem Overlay: The problem only arises while the Steam Overlay is enabled in-game. When I use Shift+Tab to open it up or when there's a steam event notification (such as "Achievement Unlocked", "Card Drop", "Friend Online", "Message" etc...) the game's graphics turn dark/black. Everything is instantly turned into black. The models are too dark and there are black "boxes" in front of my view (which move when I face a different direction. Ex Images:b1, b2, b3, b, b5). The subs are black as well. The problem doesn't occur before the first "Hit any bottom" (or whatever) after the first part of the intro and before the Main Menu (which is the point after which you can actually use the Steam Overlay!) I can't seem to find any log files of MetroLL anywhere in my system and there's not anything interesting coming out of steam's output (or at least I didn't notice it). Where are the Metro's log files located? Has anyone experienced a similar bug? Might just as well be before testing the bug...) http://i.imgur.com/dUqELtK.jpg http://i.imgur.com/zL3fdlr.jpg Changing Camera Angle (b1, b2, b3, b4, b5): http://i.imgur.com/MIYk7jW.jpg http://i.imgur.com/BI1yJoY.jpg http://i.imgur.com/NiHuuox.jpg http://i.imgur.com/xyFOKL2.jpg http://i.imgur.com/XKsuva3.jpg More Screenshots: http://i.imgur.com/fXE6M6T.jpg http://i.imgur.com/KsYokFy.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Z0J07hL.jpg Screenshots from Testing the Main Menu (+before campaign's launch): (Intro) http://i.imgur.com/Y9470SK.jpg http://i.imgur.com/8idDfxc.jpg (Main Menu) http://i.imgur.com/3MDO8PT.jpg That was a hell lot of screenshots Not sure if I forgot to mention anything. Thanks for any help/info.
Fixed the post for you. I run this game on a GeForce myself, unfortunately, so I can't offer any tangible advice on this topic. In addition you can try asking in the tech problems thread on these forums (RU/UA, but they are okay with english speaking users): http://www.gameru.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=50749. They might be a bit more active.
Thank you for fixing the links. I just pasted them without the "h t t p ://" prefix so as for them to not be detected as urls :3. I would definitely go for it, though I don't even seem to find the "Register" Button in this portal . Maybe I'll give it a shot once I learn some Russian . Well anyway the game is still playable once you turn off any steam-social interaction. Just thought to let the devs know about it. It should be fixed in a future update. WOW I can't even quote urls or use "h t t p" without spaces xD. Testing whether a word is inside quotation tags seems to be extra work. I wouldn't implement it either :3.
I've set up an account and sent you login and password in a PM. You are likely to get a proper reply in English despite it being a RU/UA language forum.
thanks for the effort man. I made an account though I can't post in the 4Agames category. Says something about my not being able of posting there or something: Обнаружена ошибка. Если вам неизвестны причины ошибки, попробуйте обратиться к разделам помощи. Причина: У вас нет прав открытия тем в этом форуме [Update] Registered and posted in the technical topic :3
no hard feelings It IS supported by linux (native client), though the port isn't anything near perfection. The graphic settings are just a bar and the gamma settings don't actually seem to work (both the same as in mac client). Apart from not being able to control much, the game runs pretty well (average-high graphics)
Well actually it was released for Linux (and Mac) and since SteamOS is linux (debian derivative indeed)...
Was this ever resolved? I'm loving last light, but am suffering from the same issue. It's annoying to have the graphics flip out and need to restart the game every time I unlock an achievement or a Steam Alert occurs...
The OP never posted again. I assume he either moved on or the issue was solved, but we'll never know.
The solution was to disable in-game steam events/overlay. Kinda sucks not seeing when a friend pops online, but at least i get to submerge my self in the dark glory that is Metro:LL.
Oh well, look at it as a positive thing; at least now you won't be distracted out of the immersive world of metro by online friends and achievement notifications!
