I enjoy playing DnD in real life. When it comes to playing online, is DnD Online better or worse than Roll20? From my understanding, DnD Online drifts further from regular DnD that Roll20, which is basically just you playing DnD with someone over Skype.

There is a big problem with roll20 and progression. Basically pen and paper D&D was meant to be very slow progression where you rarely played at high levels for very long. In DDO, basically everyone is level 20 or above now.. and the d20 system breaks at such high levels. The ´to-hit´ charts basically become silly when you are adding +60 to a d20 roll.

In ways, DDO is just very different from real D&D because it is obviously much more combat oriented. In D&D, you can often ´play´ for an hour and only have one fight, which is meaningful. In DDO, like most MMORPGs, you are killing stuff every 10 seconds.
