Well even though you basically have to come across it, mine would be the Ranger Outpost in the run out building near the demon eating the body, that would be the coolest thing ive seen on the surface, other than the kremlin in the background on the library mission just before you go inside it you can turn around and look at it so cool, would be awesome if you could ever go in there... yet i think it would be made so scary if you ever did
Yeah, it would have to be the Kremlin and the Library for me. The surroundings look amazing in Last Light, with many landmarks!
the absolute striking view from the top of Ostankino Tower, plus many more, the Library, inside and out, Outpost.....
I don't know why, but the sign on Dead City 1 that says "Dry" always gives me chills. +1 if you can spot it.
When you see the ranger truck get knocked over by a Demon. Found that show of strength pretty impressive.
Best thing on the surface...everything I have a question. The part where you get the vision with the kids playing one of the kids is drawing what appears to be a Dark One-the very first kid on your left.Does that mean the Dark Ones were here on Earth before the war? And weren't the Dark Ones just super evolved and adapted to the post-war conditions humans?
What, you can see the Kremlin in Metro 2033? I never noticed it!!! Anyway, my favourite landscape would be the Nazi outpost on the surface!
I think the Dark Ones are never properly explained (even the books don't tell us much about them), which I think is great. Mystery makes them awesome. As for the best thing I've seen on the surface? Hmm... it would have to be everything for me as well.
Well Sukhoi calls them the next step in evolution and the child in the vision is a dark one in reality so I assume they were people before the war. + they say they want to rebuild civilization so they may also remember what it was like before the war. Kind of like some of the ghouls in Fallout.
That seems to be the most likely version, but we're never told by the narrator in any of the books that it is the undeniable truth - just different interpretations. They could have been humans before the war, they could just be a completely new life form that's more intelligent than the average mutant (like a human among animals but in the new ecosystem), or they could even be aliens; who knows. In my opinion, this is what makes them great. The best elements about fiction are the ones that force you to think about them, their origins and what they are for.
How is the child in the vision Dark One in reality? And that is exactly my point.Excuse me if i sound stupid, but i may have missed something. If The Dark Ones are really humans and emerged after the war why the child draws a Dark One before the war?
well the best thing i have seen must easily be... UNCLE BOURBON! since its uncle bourbon and he is on the surface and stuff
Don't have a fucking clue what I was on about there... Just lately I have realised that most of my recent comments make no sense. I think I may have been talking about the vision the dark one creates in the park on the Dead City level. Edit: but i'm not sure that there's a dark one in place of a child when the vision ends.
I'm pretty sure the Demon just flips the truck and detaches the gunners seat and he rolls off into the bushes. Not sure on that one though, haven't played the prologue in ages. But I agree it's a badass moment.
