Are the events from ESO canon to the original story in the Elder Scrolls saga?

I read that the company who made ESO isn't the same one who made games like Skyrim and Oblivion. Because of that, I am highly skeptical of this game, since it was made for the sole purpose, I believe, of just piggybacking through the success of Skyrim, and this ESO game is not part of the canon lore in Elder Scrolls. So, for those who played it, is it any good? Does it tie with the rest of the stories in Elder Scrolls lore, or is this just a side game that is held in an "alternate universe" where the first 5 main games never happened?

Why do you think it isnĀ“t the same company that made TESO?

Lore gets screwed up a bit in any series where it diverges into a MMORPG, WOW and TESO both have the same problem where players can kill lore characters. In the canon lore, those villans would die to famous characters, or at least is story-related events, not by 30 people with crazy sounding names.

I think you can count it as canon, it's from the same franchise after all. So why not?

The events in ESO are about 1000 years prior to Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim, so yeah, you could probably say it is canon, because they can do whatever they want with that ancient of a history.

I agree too, they are actually related to the Elder Scrolls Saga.

Anything licenced and is in the game, is canon.

Compared to Tes titles, ESO is a little bit dull (but not boring). But that doesn't mean that it doesn't add to the lore.

I've seen concernes raised due to a mortal man born at the 3rd era pretending to be a Daedric prince I the 2nd era. Most people explain these contradictions in lore as lies or just ignorance.

    Ignorance, most probably.

I believe Eso is more lore accurate than Oblivion and Skyrim.

All lore in ESO is canon. ZOS are very serious when lore is concerned.

There is a little bit of conflict with the previous games, but the lore is canon.
