Pokemon Won’t Leave Nintendo Platforms Says Game Freak

by on September 3, 2017

Will we see Pokemon ever come to another console? Why does it stay with Nintendo?

When it comes to the Nintendo library of titles, one of the most successful ones by far is the Pokemon series. From the games, to the anime, and everything in between, it’s a massive franchise that’s been going on for over 20 years. Yet, despite all the successes, people still wonder if Pokemon games will ever come to other platforms. Now, there have been some games that have been released for mobile platforms, but those are very special cases, and technically not “core” Pokemon games.

In an upcoming interview with GameInformer, Game Freak co-founder Junichi Masuda talked about the importance of the Pokemon series, and whether it would ever leave Nintendo systems:

“With Pokemon, at least, we really feel it is really important to be with Nintendo, specifically with the Pokemon titles, so I don’t think that would ever happen.”

That loyalty is to be applauded in many aspects. What’s more, Nintendo technically owns a part of the Pokemon franchise, so even if Game Freak wanted to make a title in the franchise for say Xbox or PlayStation, they honestly couldn’t do it. Which will be ok by most fans.
