Edge of Chaos Announcement Trailer
From developer MetaGravity, Edge of Chaos is a Medieval-set strategic MMORPG that was announced with a trailer at Gamescom
Edge of Chaos aims high, announcing its intention to support hundreds of thousands of players in a single-shared world. As there are social and political decisions to make, and a broader landscape to explore, the game emphasizes player choice.
The game includes familiar mechanics, such as collecting resources, crafting and upgrading items, building settlements, and deciding whether you’re ready to rule a fiefdom.
Edge of Chaos Enters Open Beta
Depending on your ambitions, you may be more suited to serve a liege lord with loyalty, and potentially scout out your own ambitions separately. Your crafts will power the economy, adding another dimension of choice.
Using its own Hyperscale Engine, MetaGravity will support massive battles that emerge from several sources. Since the game is entirely player-driven, players will construct cities, join factions, and seek power.
There will be web3 features in the game, which, according to the announcement press release, will allow players to own in-game assets and shape the world.
Additionally, there is a larger enemy threatening everything, the Lord of Chaos, a malevolent AI superintelligence. While everyone still has to be concerned about the decisions they make every day, the Lord of Chaos will watch everything everyone does and create the perfect threat for everyone.
Edge of Chaos’ team emphasizes that the overall threat to the world can change and grow and isn’t just about finding the final boss and then moving on. Sign ups for alpha playtests have opened.
