Breath of the Wild Director Talks Showing Game To Miyamoto!

by on March 8, 2017

There’s always a pressure when it comes to making a big name title, mainly because, there are expectations that one has when playing a name brand. For Legend of Zelda, the expectations are even higher, because every player expects greatness from the title without fail. Now, imagine having to show the latest Legend of Zelda game to the series creator, Shigeru MIyamoto.

Breath of the Wild director Hidemaro Fujibayashi did just that during development, as he had to show how the game was progressing to both Miyamoto and series producer Eiji Aonuma. As he noted to Kotaku, he told the two legends that “you can do everything”, and apparently, Mr. Miyamoto did just that.

“When we first presented this to Mr. Miyamoto, he spent about an hour just climbing trees, he just kept climbing trees. Up and down.”

He did this because to prove that Link could climb trees for the first time in the games history, they put Rupees on the tops of the trees, thus, Mr. Miyamoto would just go and get the Rupees. Even though the whole world was open to exploring.

It just goes to show, that even the most legendary of developers can have the heart of a child.

I am not exactly sure what this means in terms of how things go operationally speaking, but that must be an exciting thing for getting the word out. Seems like a good business move.
