Studio Wildcard has announced an interesting new component that is coming out for ARK. The hit video game is venturing off into the realm of eSports with ARK: Survival of the Fittest. This new version will act as a free, standalone, multiplayer online survival arena or M.O.S.A. game This version will be a free standalone Steam title that includes ELO Ranking, match-making, leaderboards and pro-tier monthly cash prizes.
Speaking on the move for ARK, Studio Wildcard co-founder and co-creative director Jesse Rapczak stated: “Following the success of the tournaments we hosted last fall, we saw valuable community feedback about other competitive features they wanted to see implemented. Now with shorter matches, four new game modes, rapid dino taming and more, we felt it was time to let people come in to test it for themselves. Not only can you play for free, but we’re offering cash prizes for the top players in each Survivor League, so ARK survivors can potentially start playing their favorite game professionally!”
In Survival of the Fittest, players will face off in Jurassic environments. The dinosaur survival arena is a continually shrinking ring of death. Survivors are pushed into an epic final showdown where only one “Tribe” will make it out alive. The survivors can form a Tribe of one-to-six people. There are options to choose Unofficial and Official (Ranked) servers. There are a variety of game-lengths and sizes to play. At the start, players will begin in a base forest environment from the original ARK: Survival Evolved. There are new environments and creatures introduced regularly as the game evolves.
Per the announcement, each month the Top-10 Ranked players in each game mode’s Survivor League will receive cash prize winnings corresponding to their Ranked placement. The ongoing Rankings for these elite titles will be visible in real-time on SurviveTheArk.com at launch.
ARK: Survival of the Fittest is available now on Steam Early Access.
