A heroic death is so standard and doesn't really fit in the Metro world in my opinion. A depressive ending goes much deeper (just like the book), does fit into the depressive Metro universe and is unique.

Well if he is older then for all we know he could be like 60 so he can't die like a bad-ass. He should become a dark one. He mutates into a dark one and assists the last dark ones in helping the humans.

OK, I think he should die. Too many happy endings these days.

He should as an old man die. Like maybe by the darkones. Very poetic.

I still want multiple endings, à la Shadow of Chernobyl. Some really cool endings for everyone, and then some more for those who wish to seek further. ;)

This wouldn't be possible, because Artyom writes the events of Metro 2033, and likely also Metro: Last Light on the typewriter decades later. Metro 2034 book spoiler:
Also, doesn't Artyom die in Metro 2034? That means that he can't be writing the story in the game of Metro 2033.

The Artyom in Metro 2034 is a completely different Artyom to the one in Metro 2033. I too was confused when reading the book at first, but I found out that Glukhovsky has made a statement several times that those are two completely different characters.

Btw, I know about the typewriter thing as it's been pointed out numerous times already, but I still want multiple endings. :p

I wouldn't mind if he went out like a bad ass. It would be cool after every mission/sections he is writing his experience in a journal and at the end Khan or Miller or any other character close to him in the story takes it from his body or something. Would be bad ass.

Yes,he should. But not in LL. And Artyom's death must be sad and...hearthbreaking :D No heroics,no bad-ass ninja stuff,no last words of wisdom and speeches. We've seen enough of those endings already. Just a quiet, sad moment before Artyom closes his eyes for the last time and realizing all of his efforts to save his home-the metro-were in vain.

I agree with all of it except for efforts to save the Metro being in vain. The Reds, Polis, The Fourth Reich, Hansa and several other stations. These station should sign a unification act that will unify them and turn them into the Greater Unified Repubic of the Metro.

Artyom's death should be sad like Ezio's he died on the streets of Florence (Or in his bed I can't remember.)

I wouldn't want that as it would be completely utopian and unrealistic. Besides, Metro shouldn't have a fully happy ending. There should always be underlying themes of hope, but a lot more sorrow and darkness over covering all of it.

It wasn't a very good example but I just don't want his efforts to be in vain. Have you seen movies or T.V shows where at the end the character wad asleep, that is what it would feel like. You've spent all these hours watching or playing it only to find it was in vain would bring no satisfaction.

I also agree with what you said about the Utopian type ending and that is definitely what most people will Not want.
