Some old and less old Polish stuff.
Was listening to Marty O'Donnell's Dust Giants, and really wanted to try my hand at a new Orchestral plugin I downloaded. Spent a few good scattered bits of a week or two hacking out a rough-but-functional piece of symphony battle music, much like a game soundtrack format.
Is it wrong i have this song on 4 different devices? @Portato Nice going man sounds great i once (Read Once) gave my ten cents at virtual music composition and well if i can get away with the Rule 203448*A.C.31\QW Please dont destroy other members ability to have a cognitive thought process i will pop it up
I enjoyed your version of the Destiny song more, Potarto . It was more fast-paced and something I would rather listen to while playing a game. The original seemed a bit too annoying for me. I've got a question for you: Do you know if game devs just use soundboards to create their music for their games? Like metro last light? I know there are a few companies, though, who go all out on orchestras, but I've never heard about how everyone else makes their music. Just a stupid question.
Thanks, to both of you! As for Nuke's question: I believe it largely depends on the budget. Most indie developers probably just homebrew their stuff on a computer, which is why funky electronica music seems so popular with them. But any triple-A title likely has them building and testing it out on a computer, and then hiring an Orchestra for a day to hammer out the final draft.
@potarto: Ah, okay. Thank you. Yeah I've been wondering for a long time now and I was never able to get a clear enough answer. The credits to games would always give me the name of the music composer, so I looked them up; though, all it would say about them was what other games they worked on but not how the music was made. Plus, for old games like Duke Nukem 3D and the early Doom games, I always read a lot of comments made by people saying it was incredible how they were able to make such good tracks with very little technology. With that, I assumed the music was composed completely on software on a computer, but I wasn't too sure. +1 for Potarto.
