Well as the title suggests I'll be off to the military soon. January 5th I've finally been contacted by the military telling me that they're finishing the last of the paperwork to send me an official job offer. In all respects, I've been accepted. But they gotta finish a bunch of paperwork before it's "Officially official" I'll still be here for a couple months however so it's not sudden but approaching and set. When I'm gone I'll not be allowed outside contact for 5 weeks and after that I doubt I'll have any time to spend on the forums. After 13 weeks of basic training which takes place in Quebec I'll hopefully be sent to Gagetown, Newbrunswick which is the closest I can get to the Atlantic while still being able to touch the seabed. And at which point more training will occupy me. Basically I won't be active at all really for months. But then again I might get kicked out for being shit, but hopefully not. If all goes well, within a year I'll be the crewman of a beautiful Leopard 2A6M. Or a 2A4M. What I'm really worried about is them putting me in a stupid LAV-3. I wanna be in a tank damnit! So anyway, that's the news...
Wow, that's amazing, Aaron! I wish you all good luck and may you enjoy your time there and earn your sweet sweet cash. But until then, you're stuck with us
Try not to run into any dire wolves. Personally I've always wanted to join the Space Marines, but I've got health issues that make me unacceptable even for the normal troops unless there is a war and they run out of people.
Definitely not my preferred career choice, but it's your life - not mine. The last thing you'll want to hear at this point is someone telling you what you should be doing instead, when it's entirely your decision to make and no one has the right to stop you from doing this. So I wish you the best of luck with it and I hope you'll be happy with the choice you made.
It sounds like it will be a fun and exciting experience. In advance, stay safe (and tanks are really cramped with a full crew).
Space marines are just awesome! My favorite, in movies, have always been Starship-Troopers and Colonial Marines: Spoiler If only Russia has the right idea in having formed the space marines.
I'm not a big person by any means. I'm 170cm (5'7" ish) and only weight about 110lbs. It's a good thing it's all muscle or I'd be screwed. Tight spaces for most people are comfortable for me (Hehe) so I doubt I'll have issues with that. If I was 6'4", yes, but luckily that's not the case. I just hope I don't have to go fight the Russians. Those guys don't mess around.
Hahaha ! Why do we eventually end up at this point in a quarter of the conversations we have on here!
As of now I don't have a choice. I don't even have control of wether they put me in a tank or LAV-3. It's up to them where they want to put me. The most I can do is "kiss ass" and beg to be in a tank. But I'll have to be good to make it into the few we have :/ One thing I do know is that I'll have to do basic training in winter. And that sucks, because my wittle fingers always freeze and doing anything in the snow is a lot harder. But I still like winter other than that, being Canadian and all.
Canadian Maple Syrup. :hungry: Well, I hope you do get the position the you want, and you should have a combat awesome song that you play every time you get in the tank
Finally got the official call from the army with an "Official" offer for crewman, three year contract. Ill swear my oath to the Queen of England (lol) on December 11 at which point I'll "Officially" be in the army. But since my training doesnt start until January 5 I'll be listed as "On leave without pay" lol
