I find the non player races intriguing, they are more than simple critters, some are opponents and some are allies. Some of them have had blog posts done by Arena Net: The Hylek http://www.arena.net/blog/go-forth-and-multiply-the-hylek Intriguing quote from the Alchemy & Trade section of the post: "Hylek merchants from the friendlier tribes often seek to trade their less poisonous concoctions for goods and raw materials, creating an economy with the surrounding races." So what does it take to become allies with them (asks my Asura Thief)? The Quaggan http://www.arena.net/blog/the-mostly-harmless-quaggan They are just so cuuuute The Krait http://www.arena.net/blog/shadows-in-the-water-the-krait Really scary as these are enemies to everyone. The Skritt http://www.arena.net/blog/those-sneaky-sneaky-skritt Intrguing quote from the Skritt Religion section of the post: "They are scavengers, but picky ones. They’re not the sort to dig through your trash, but rather the kind of mooch who convinces you that your extra sword is too much trouble to carry and you should give it to them." Hmmmm based on the rest of the post do they become irresistable the more they congregate? The Jotun http://www.arena.net/blog/the-savage-pride-of-the-jotun Useful info from the Recent History section of the post: "Now savage, vicious creatures, the jotun fall upon any traveler they see. Occasionally pacified by tribute and flattery, they may choose to let non-jotun pass with a threat or a beating." One race/society I'd like more info on is the Centaurs. What drives them? Can we learn their language? Any of the non player races intrigue you?
Skrett are my favorite, they really go in depth for these races that we can't even play. Shows how much work was put into it, I was imagining the devs for FF14 to be more like this than I was expecting GW2. "The asura see the skritt as moochers. They don’t plan, they are not strategists beyond small tactics and survival techniques, and they are quick to take advantage when they see an opening. They are neither inventors nor scientists, but they are curious. Given enough time with someone else’s invention, a skritt will discover how it works—and possibly how to replicate it. That alone is enough to annoy the asura beyond reason." Haha they should of made them a playable race.
I would really like to see the Tengu more. I think there really cool. There a avian race that has a Asian style culture. There like Feathered Samurai. So cool. There mean looking to. Claws, beak and fangs. They got it all.
The Kodan intrigue me (the polar bear race, see Unknown's avatar ), but I'm not really sure why. Maybe because they just look cool. However they do seem to have some cultural similarities with the norn, so I'm interested to see how the two races interact with each other.
The Quaggan are pretty sweet, but having seen what ANet have done with them when you get a 404 on the GW2 website, I have a feeling that they're going to make me sick of seeing them very, very quickly...
