Military gameplay is why I love strategy games. Especially ones that evolve through the different time ages. It is really a history lesson being put in front of you, and I am a HUGE fan of historical battles and showdowns. There are lots of battles that occur in every Civ game, but in Civ 3, it's mostly just one unit (acting like an entire battalion or army) with an enemy's one unit as well. They do it like chess pieces, and it gets boring too. Hopefully, with the newer games, larger armies would be able to show off their skills, because that would be an epic encounter for sure.

Even if you're not the biggest history fan (like myself) I still love all the military battles and I'm glad they're improving them in Civilization V. I would love to see new tactics and units though, hopefully they add some.

I am kind of the opposite to that. My playstyle revolves around economical approaches and try to go for the long game. So I definitely value the economical depth more than the depth in military, but some improvements to the older system is nice, so I definitely don't mind.

I am glad the developers are addressing the Military Mechanic because in my experience this particular feature has not been very stable in the past installments of Civilization.

I just hope that a spear-thrower is able to beat a battleship now and then :) I remember in the earliest days of the first game, that particular event was one of the first flame wars on any forum on the internet.

I sure hope they don't change this. Ridiculous things like that happening are basically a core part of Civilization's DNA, as dumb as it might be, I'd hate to see that part of the game change.

That said, the changes detailed here all seem like good changes that overall will increase the quality of the game so I'm excited.

I totally agree.... the developers seem to know what they are doing for the release of Civilization VI.

Well I have to say that his is exactly the type of news or teaser that I like to read about my games. To find out that they emphasized one of the best aspects of the game, and probably my favorite, is great news. This just means that there is more strategy, and it probably mirrors real world techniques, which is just awesome and I cannot wait to see it.

This is some nice news to hear, since I always love when it's as realistic as possible. I'm a fan of strategizing and imagining like I'm someone from history with a real country to run so if they can improve it that's awesome :).

Well, seems like this game will help a lot of people on learning military tactics and mechanics as well, even those who already know a bit about tactics are going to be able to make the game something more enjoyable for themselves, I really have good expectations for this game and hopefully will be a hit for sure!

The changes stated seem promising as many of them have been as many of them do address the issues I've had with previous versions. It just makes me even more interested with the new game and makes me want to see what they improved on.

In this case, I believe quality matters far more than quantity. The number of units and their way of being distributed throughout the tech tree is wonderful, it makes it so that there is no useless unit and all of them get to be used, in a certain scenario. What I would love to see is improvements in the way AI handles and produces them. It seems to be a reocurring situation: some Civ builds a tremendous amount units (whichever they have the easiest acces to, even the cheaper ones) then they either send them to, it seems, random places where they have no use or go berserk on another civ. That or they hold them in their boarders, doing nothing. I think the current system lacks the strategy and planning part. In the vast majority of situations, all civs seem to not plan anything for the long term of the game, which makes the game lack the challange aspect on lower and medium difficulties. Looking forward to what they can come up to to improve this imperfection.

I am not a big fan of history but I still very much enjoy the military gameplay and the strategy games. That is not really my preferred style of play but any improvement in the game is greatly appreciated.

I've heard a lot of people complaining about the previous versions of the game that there is all kinds of speculation about what kind of improvements there will be in Civ VI. As a newbie, I won't have enough experience to compare but I'm definitely excited to hear about a lot of the features that will be improved upon in the new version.

Oh man this changes look great, as bare bones as the CIV5 sieges were, they were still pretty fun, now imagine how great they're going to be now that there is a system for it.

I really like how now there is a point to scouting the cities before you attack, that way you can pinpoint the weak spots in your enemy's empire, really love that detail. It also helps with the flow of the game, making sieges longer so you can't just spam troopers and take over everything.

    Loving these details.

I am also just like you. I am also a great fan of the 'military games' because they are one of the best genres of game that you can buy. This feature is greatly appreciated by me.

You are not alone. We all love it. Almost every Civ fan will love it. I am really loving these amazing updates by the intelligent developers of this game. They are really doing a great job.

Well, they've been working really hard on this version, it will probably be way better (shall be) than the previous ones, that can be predictable, hopefully they do not leave any bug or glitch around because it would definitely mess up the whole thing.

This was the game that got me more interested in history, I used hate it when I was younger. I found it too boring but civilisations made me come round to it.
