Very true, I would normally agree with you but the games I mainly play are optimised for hyperthreading, metro included. This rig isn't meant to be over the top, but tailored to my gaming needs. But long story short, i5 devours the i7's 98% of the time.
You play a lot of games, then one day you think "aw man lets make videos". In this field you'll have the biggest regret of taking an i5 over an i7 regarded you had the money to take an i7. As you start making videos, encoding, editing you'll want a really fast i7 like 3930k, which is what I'm saving for
I would still laugh if anyone actually purchased this, dream or not. A few years back a person I know took a bank credit and bought the most ridiculously powerfull PC parts he could get his hands on. His monthly credit payment now is larger than the price of the entire PC at this point.
Hey, I'm thinking off getting this laptop for Christmas and I was wandering if it would be able to run STALKER. . http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_V3-571G_Windows_8_Core_i5_Laptop_-_Black_NX.RZJEK.008/version.asp I found the minimum requirements online but I'm not very good with this stuff and I know a lot of you guys have played it so I thought I'd ask. Any feedback would be appreciated, cheers!
you should have no problems, however, I don't know how well Stalker would work with windows 8, since it is a very new system. Acer is not bad, but the last Acer I had died pretty soon. it was a few years back though.
It should be able to play STALKER, not on max though. It's seems a pretty decent buy, but I'm not familiar with the usual laptop costs in the UK.
As the others have said, it should work more than fine. Actually, I think it may even run on max settings. You have an acceptable CPU and a GPU that I'm not that sure about... still, it should be an alright set-up as even if the graphics card is only "ok", then the big amount of RAM should compensate.
I'm pretty sure that's a US only website (as in, they ship only to North America), but I may be wrong.
Oh and it's probably a stupid question but which is first: Call of Pripyat of Shadow of Chernobyl and which would you recommend more?
To answer the first part of your question, Mr. Karma: Shadow of Chernobyl was first, then came Clear Sky and finally Call of Pripyat. Sadly, I haven't played any of them and can only suggest that you start with the first game.
