I played WoW briefly back then, I remember i think Pat or Pam something along those lines. He released that epic PvP gladiator video that went wild on the web.
I sure remember grinding honor for the titles... I at one point had was switching every game of AV, so like 1-2 hours, when the honor grind was coming to an end. Got High Warlord in the end and it was so worth it, even played with a few "legends" I remember a few WSG games with Takuu, those were the days.
You actually achieved warlord? wow lol. AV was hours long back in those days.. would end up lasting the entire day sometimes if i remember clearly.
I used to play. Vanilla WoW was the best: when over 10,000 health was pretty much unheard of and AV matches took 6-12 hours at a time. I played a 60 Tauren Warrior on the server Stormreaver (which at the time, I believe was the most active PvP server). I ended up leaving way before Burning Crusade right around the time of the first server transfers. I was an Officer of the guild Gentlemen's Club, one of the most renowned US Horde guilds. I quit the game because when server transfers occurred, most of GC transferred to Korgath or quit themselves. Not wanting to leave yet (I was clearly addicted) I applied and was accepted as a GM on the now desolate Stormreaver, but eventually left permanently from an overwhelming flood of support tickets. Ended as a Legionnaire in Tier 2 armor and Thunderfury.
I played beta and for years after. I had full nightslayers/bloodfang. And anyone that ran MC 40 man raids will know how much it takes to have max armor/weapons. After BWL & MC i felt like i beat the game! Anyone remember when the launched the honor kills/dishonorable kills. World pvp in bloody bay and hillsbrad for days. Anyone remember...? when shadow priests could attack from stealth (timeframe: beta) when shaman windfury would proc on itself and insta dead alliance jerks! (timeframe: early release) when feral tanks were crap... oh they still are? oh yeah they've always got screwed except a breif moment late BC. (timeframe: forever!)
WoW was not my first MMO, but I still feel a nostalgic feel for when I first played that game. Was very, very fun. To bad it turned into a nubbery fest.
I played wow way back then. It was fun then, but now I feel like guild wars 2 will be a nice and freshening game!
yer i played wow for 4 years and hadent played a mmo in 2 years glad to be playing guildwars 2 i kinda miss the days of staying up late leveling a character or owning up on some pvp
I played WoW at release and then off and on for 6 years. That was a good time for MMO's, perhaps I'm seeing it through rose colored glasses but communities were a bit different then. GW2 has given me the same feeling and a new hope for MMO's with it's launch. It hasn't done anything that hasn't been done before but it did everything extremely well, and that is exactly what WoW has done over the years.
