Question about the "Metro 2033" book so it has spoilers. There's your warning!

In Chapter 16 of the book, Oleg has an object (perhaps a medal) that belonged to Anton, and proudly says to Artyom "RVA!" after putting it back in his pocket. In the wiki site, its mentioned that "It is also hinted that Anton is one of the only surviving rocket men from the RVA in the Moscow Metro.."

Assuming he is not apart of the Russian Visual Arts (project) or Russian Vegetable Association, what does RVA stand for?

  3. РВА: Ракетные Войска и Артиллерия. It was a missile forces insignia. His father served in those, which is why Melnik needed him to operate the MRL and destroy the Dark Ones' hive. He took it off because of the social stigma associated with those who destroyed the world.

I apologize for, and will be more careful about spoilers in the future.

Thanks for answering my question. Kudos!
