Zen Studios Reveals CastleStormVR! Check Out the New Trailer Here!

by on June 13, 2016

Zen Studios has officially announced its latest VR game, CastleStorm VR. The new title from the developers of Pinball FX2 VR is described as an action-strategy-RPG hybrid. The game is being developed for Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR, powered by Oculus.

CastleStorm VR puts players into an environment where they can raze castles and conquer rivals. According to Zen, the game uses 2D physics destruction mashed with a tower defense brawler. Players are put into the middle of a battlefield and have to cast their swords against knights, soldiers archers and griffins for castle vs. castle combat.

Zen Studios is proclaiming that the game will take full advantage of modern VR hardware with immersive technical capabilities that will put players directly onto the battlefield. Gamers should be able to hear arrows whizzing by, battle cries, horse galloping, and ballista shots.

Based on the trailer, this looks more like a mobile or app type of game rather than a truly immersive experience, but maybe it will be surprising.

The game is due out later next month for Oculus Rift for $24.99 and Samsung Gear VR for $14.99. The game will be available on July 7. You can also check out the announcement trailer for the game int he player below.

This is the game I'm most stoked for so far. I know there's still time for my mind to change, but VR + Defense is like a dream come true for me. I've always wished there was more MMO play-when-you-want castle defense pvp, here's hoping they do this one right!
