Square Enix Has High Hopes For Dragon Quest XI Sales

by on August 16, 2017

How well is Dragon Quest XI doing? What does Square Enix expect from it?

Dragon Quest is one of the most popular RPG franchises in Japan, so when Dragon Quest XI sold 2 million copies in just two days, you could say that no one was surprised. However, you might be surprised to hear that Square Enix has a very high goal in mind for Dragon Quest XI. So, when they were asked if they would meet their sales goal, they replied:

“We believe that we can reach the lower end of our unit sales plan. Our goal is to reach the upper end of that plan, but we believe that that will depend on how sales of the Nintendo 3DS version trend going forward.”

The PS4 version sold a little better than the 3DS version, but both have basically sold 1 million copies a piece. What’s also important to note is that the game will come over to the US, so it’s possible that will factor into the grand scheme of things.
