Fortnite Has Cross-Play Before Epic Games Shut It Down

by on September 19, 2017

What happened to the cross-play in Fortnite? Was that planned?

Video games aren’t above having massive glitches, especially ones that can change the very game they’re on in a whim. In fact, such legendary glitches have become part of gaming culture. For those who played Fortnite over the past weekend, one such glitch happened. As a “configuration issue” made it so that PS4 and Xbox One users could cross-play Fortnite together.

Why is this significant? Well, cross-play between Xbox One and PS4 is literally unheard of. In fact, Sony is becoming infamous for its stance on cross-play in games such as Rocket League (of which developer Psyonix wants cross-play across all platforms it’s on) and Minecraft.

Now, sadly, despite this being something really cool with gamers, Epic Games has “fixed” the issue, and cross-play is no longer an option.. Could it return. Sure. Will it though? That’s uncertain.
