Bungie Denies Microtransactions For Buffs In Destiny

by on October 15, 2015

There have been concerns amongst players of Destiny when certain patch files found in the games new update seemed to indicate that Bungie would be selling buffs at a cheap rate. Bungie has since denied it has any plans to sell drop rate buffs in Destiny.

As of yesterday’s update, which added the new real-money currency Silver to the game along with purchasable emotes, a number of players in the community began notice new items that appeared to offer significant bonuses to anyone who managed to acquire them.

One such item of interest were some that could be used to to buff armour and weapon drops in the King’s Fall raid. Also, the ability to acquire more Moldering Shards in the raid as well, and the option to fully level your character’s equipped subclass. These concerns manifested even more when a thread about this reveal was locked on the Destiny forums.

In response to these questions and concerns, the creative director of Destiny, Luke Smith, took to Twitter to address concerns over the items, stating in a tweet: “We aren’t (nor are we planning) on selling consumables that buff King’s Fall drop rates for Silver.” While not definitive in some ways, it does appear that these items are buffs that will naturally arrive in the world to increase your chances of finding the loot you’re after.

We’ll update this story more as details become available.
